How and Why You Need To Create and Use A Blog!
A blog is a fascinating and most useful tool for use in marketing, and there are many reasons why you need to use one, whether it is as your main site in place of a traditional html site, or as an adjunct site stemming from your traditional site. You can set this up in many ways, and one thing to keep in mind, particularly when you are starting your site, is that blogs are often, as is the case with Wordpress, highly optimized for SEO purposes upon installation. There are still tweaks you'll want to make, but much of the heavy lifting is done for you.
A popular blog can go a long way in helping you not only have a vibrant, current and exciting site, but can also help you in developing site authority. When visitors wanted to interact with a static html site, they are forced to contact you via an email or some other lines of communication you've set up. The beauty of blogs is that this is largely built in for you. You can allow commenting, set up polls and guestbooks and many more interactive tools for keeping your hand on the pulse of your blog visitors. You can also more easily utilize RSS feeds, and develop a subscriber base that will follow your every post.
Speaking of posts, a blog makes it far easier to update your site. You can login and make a post/page about anything, and have that page written, optimized and published in a matter of minutes, unlike the hoops you'd have to jump through to put new content on your html site (opening your page builder, building the page, uploading it via FTP to your web host, and then sometimes having to wait for it to make it into their serve). This is a far different and much more cumbersome process that utilizing a blog.
Another great feature in favor of using a blog as your primary site is that the search engines, in particular Google (is there another?) loves them. It's not uncommon for a blog to get indexed in minutes, and indeed, there are many more ways you can "help" it become indexed than there are with a static site.
You can also easily incorporate other forms of media into your blog platform with much more ease than you can with a static site. Adding videos, pictures, podcasts and more is a click away, and again, publishing them is instantaneous.
However far and away the best reasons for using a blog is the ability to stay in touch with your website visitors more easily. You can become the authority in your chosen market or niche by simply being available and reachable. Too many times you find an interesting site, but have questions and no way to get them answered. With your brand spanking new socially interactive blog platform, you'll not be burdened with that scenario!
